Maize & Snitz Fest
Bring out the entire family to celebrate the heritages of local Native American and Pennsylvania German cultures.
This popular annual festival—held on the grounds of the county’s oldest home—features great food, interpreters in traditional dress, hands-on activities, and demonstrations of colonial-era arts, crafts, and farm life. Featured demonstrations include threshing, quilting, loom weaving, heckling flax, churning butter, and cooking over a fire. Artisans will be making shingles, shoes, candles, and corn husk dolls. Guests tour the Longhouse, a replica of the dwelling used by Native Americans before the time of European settlement in the area. Native American craftspeople and storytellers share their culture, history, and crafts.
