Bike Tour: Susquehanna River Towns Central to Industry & Underground Railroad
The river towns of northwest Lancaster County were once thriving industrial centers. Bicycle 22 miles, learning stories of African Americans and others active in industry and the Underground Railroad during the 18th and 19th centuries. This guided tour will stop at points of historical interest, such as the remains of Billmyer, home of early African American Mennonite Harvey Arnett. A picnic lunch is included as part of the tour.
Registration costs $50 for LMHS members, $55 for nonmembers. Registration is due June 25.
The tour will begin at the Columbia Crossings River Trail Center, 41 Walnut Street, Columbia, Pa.
In case of inclement weather, the tour will be rescheduled to Sunday, June 30 at 2 p.m.
