We are pleased to announce the addition of a new collection to our growing list of online genealogical resources. After about two years, volunteers have completed indexing and scanning thousands of obituaries that are part of the Charles Beadle Papers in the Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society Archives. These obituaries (CB Obits) were collected from 1933-1979 and primarily were clipped from “The Ephrata Review.”
Naturally, most of these relate to persons from the Ephrata area and nicely complement our obituaries from the Lancaster Newspapers. The online indexes are free to the public; online access to the obituaries is a benefit of LMHS membership.
In total, the Historical Society now has nearly 257,000 obituaries or death records indexed and available online! There are some duplicate names, with obituaries occasionally appearing in multiple sources, however, this is an impressive resource that would not have been possible without many hours of labor provided by our volunteers over many years. Thank you, volunteers!
