Art Classes

Learn authentic PA German folk art and crafts. These workshops with master artists provide the history and significance of each folk art genre as well as hands-on participation in each craft.

October 17 Fraktur (location: Society headquarters), limited to 15 participants, view rare fraktur from the Society's collection and create a fraktur bookplate to take home; led by artist and teacher, Emily Smucker Beidler.  Half-day class, 9 am -12:30 pm, cost $35 ($5 discount for members). 

November 14 Baskets (location: Society headquarters), limited to 12 participants, meets 9 am – 12:30 pm only, cost $35 ($5 discount for members) plus materials charge of $35, make a square, muffin basket to take with you, c/o Cindy Seaton, basket-maker & teacher

Public Meetings

The Society sponsors occasional special events and four free public meetings a year on various PA German and Mennonite-related topics.  See calendar for details. 

We are planning a public meeting on Monday, Nov. 9, "Indians in Pennsylvania," location TBD.  This program is funded through a special grant from the PA Humanities Council Commonwealth Speakers Program.
